Roles help ensure that team members have the right tools for their responsibilities without unnecessary access to unrelated features.

Shift Contact

Purpose
The Shift Contact role is designed for site-based team members whose main responsibility is attending and logging shifts.

Key capabilities

  • Check in and check out of assigned shifts

  • View upcoming and past shifts

  • Log shift activity using the mobile app

Limitations

  • No access to project management features

  • No visibility of other projects or wider programme activity

Best suited for

  • Operatives, inspectors, or site staff attending scheduled shifts


Project Manager

Purpose
The Project Manager role is intended for users responsible for delivering individual projects.

Key capabilities

  • Full control over their own projects

  • View other projects for wider team visibility and coordination

  • Create and assign shifts

  • Manage delivery activities for their own team

Best suited for

  • Project managers overseeing delivery on specific projects while maintaining awareness of other work across the organisation


Crew Scheduler

(Previously: Delivery Manager)

Purpose
The Crew Scheduler role focuses on planning and assigning people to shifts across projects.

Key capabilities

  • Assign Shift Contacts to upcoming shifts

  • Create and assign shifts across all projects within their programme team(s)

  • View all projects for scheduling and coordination purposes

Limitations

  • Cannot update or edit project details

Best suited for

  • Resource planners or schedulers coordinating site coverage and staffing


Project Coordinator

Purpose
The Project Coordinator role supports the organisation and scheduling of programmes of work across teams and project managers.

Key capabilities

  • Create, assign, and import projects

  • Configure the project management module, including:

    • Default project stages

    • Working times

    • Programme teams

  • Coordinate work across multiple projects and teams

Best suited for

  • Programme coordinators or operations staff managing setup and structure across multiple projects


Control Room Operator

Purpose
The Control Room Operator role is designed for users managing live, real-time operations across the network.

Key capabilities

  • Access the Operations Hub

  • View all active shifts

  • Send messages directly to Shift Contacts

  • Manually override shift statuses or details when required

  • Maintain an accurate operational record of who worked, where, and when

Best suited for

  • Control room staff, network operations teams, or live operations managers


Traffic Monitoring Editor

Purpose
The Traffic Monitoring Editor role is for users who create and manage traffic monitoring activity and outputs.

Key capabilities

  • Create and manage traffic monitoring data

  • Produce traffic monitoring reports

  • Manage Smart VMS

  • Full edit access to all traffic monitoring data across all sites

  • Access the Operations Hub (vehicles view only)

Limitations

  • No access to project management features

  • No Operations Hub admin permissions

  • No shift monitoring access

Best suited for

  • Traffic monitoring managers or analysts responsible for data, reporting, and VMS management


Traffic Monitoring Viewer

Purpose
The Traffic Monitoring Viewer role is intended for users who need visibility of traffic monitoring data without editing rights.

Key capabilities

  • View all traffic monitoring data across all sites

  • Interact with insights

  • Export monitoring data and reports

Limitations

  • View-only access (no editing or management permissions)

Best suited for

  • Managers, stakeholders, or clients who need oversight and reporting access


Traffic Monitoring Guest Editor

Purpose
The Traffic Monitoring Guest Editor role provides editing access to traffic monitoring for specific sites only.

Key capabilities

  • Create and manage traffic monitoring data for assigned sites

  • Edit monitoring configurations and outputs for those sites

Access scope

  • Site-specific access must be defined when the role is assigned

Best suited for

  • External partners, subcontractors, or consultants contributing monitoring data for selected locations


Traffic Monitoring Guest Viewer

Purpose
The Traffic Monitoring Guest Viewer role provides view-only access to traffic monitoring for specific sites.

Key capabilities

  • View traffic monitoring data for assigned sites

  • Interact with insights and export information

Limitations

  • No editing or management permissions

  • Access limited to defined sites only

Best suited for

  • External stakeholders who need visibility of monitoring results without the ability to make changes
